Black Skimmer
While searching for Tern nests I found two Black Skimmer nests. These chicks are so well hidden they are very hard to see from above. They shower themselves with sand so predators cannot see them. I included a picture of one of the adults.
I am a Field Biologist working and living in So. California. I work mainly with endangered birds but also spend a lot of my time collecting and processing plant specimens. Along the way there are days where I may work with reptiles, mammals and even insects. I like to document my daily adventures with photographs which I will post on here as often as I can.

Those little ducks - are they ducks?- are so cute. I want one. :)
Great pictures Dave. You must have to be very careful not to step on eggs and babies. How close might nests be?
